I have 25 years experience in the window industry – the last 15 of which I have specialised in joinery, particularly of sliding sash windows, also restoration and repair of existing windows and doors. We renovate and repair existing sliding sash windows, all staff beads and parting beads are removed and replaced with new timber beads, sashes are removed and re-corded and balanced with lead add-on weights to existing cast weights. Boxes and sashes are scraped of excess paint, any broken glass can be replaced. We draughtseal windows and doors with a plastic channel which is routered into the staff beads and parting beads, which surround the window, creating the channels that the windows slide up and down in, and also the meeting rail (by the handle) and a synthetic brush draughtstrip with a nylon flipper incorporated is fitted into that channel.
