Sulgrave Estates was founded by Lucinda Watts in 2009. It is Maida Vale's only online residential letting and property management agency and covers this and the surrounding West London area. The service is hands on, working around the convenience of the landlord without the restrictions of office hours. In addition, Sulgrave Estates is able to offer lower rates by not having costly shop front overheads.
The firm subscribes to the Property Ombudsman Scheme and Lucinda Watts is a Licensed ARLA Agent. ARLA stands for Association of Residential Letting Agents and is the governing body for letting agents in the UK. Members have to abide by their code of conduct and have client money protection and professional indemnity insurance in place. They are also required to provide annual accountant's reports. Due to lack of regulation, membership of ARLA is not compulsory. Always look for the logo.
Sulgrave Estates does not do sales, preferring instead to concentrate on the lettings market. Clients range from professional landlords with large numbers of rental properties to landlords with smaller portfolios. Many clients are those renting out their own homes as a result of a change in their circumstances - usually due to moving in with their partner, moving overseas or moving out of the area but electing to keep their property as a rental investment.
The firm is small and family run with the majority of its work coming through word of mouth and personal recommendation. It is known amongst landlords as Maida Vale's "best kept secret".
