Emma's Dream
Chorley, Lancashire
About Us Emma's Dream was founded by Julie O Keefe a mother of three children Claire 28, James 26 and Emma who would have been 23 in(2015). Julie never thought she would lose one of her children and she say's its the worst pain you will ever feel. She misses Emma very much and she's the first person she thinks about when waking in a morning. Now Julie is determined with the help of others to raise awareness and make a difference. She founded Emma's Dream in memory of Emma Kathryn whom sadly she found hanging in her previous home bedroom on the 13th September 2010, Emma was only 19 years young when she took her own life whilst awaiting an assessment for the bi Polar disorder. Our Aim Campaigning to raise mental awareness, offer support and advise to children and young adults with mental health problems. The main fundraising at the moment is to raise funds for our 24hr Crisis Line and for the purchase of a widebeam barge which will give people with mental health issue's a days break or a stress free holiday on the tranquil Leeds to Liverpool. The barge will have to be dramatically redesigned as to meet peoples needs as well as covering all health and safety issues that may arise and have to be dealt with. As you can imagine this is no small task but with the help of you the public, business's and the narrowboat community we are confident we can pursue Emma's Dream.

Wigan Borough Veterans Council
Wigan, Lancashire
A veteran is a term that means someone who has served in the UK Armed Forces (whether regular or reserve), but our commitment is inclusive to their widows/widowers and their dependants. It is also inclusive of members of the Merchant Navy who have played a vital role in legally defined military operations as part of the wider veterans'' community. It is estimated that the wide and disparate veterans'' community is a population of 10 million people in the UK. The majority of veterans go on to lead very productive and useful lives after leaving the Armed services. They utilise their transferable skills and knowledge acquired from their time served occupations making an ongoing positive contribution to wider society. However at different stages in our lives we may need that bit of advice or guidance in moving forward. Sometimes others are less fortunate and need support after leaving the Services. This is where the Wigan Borough Veterans Council can assist you. Our role includes providing practical advice and guidance for veterans and their dependants of all ages; backgrounds and military services. We can provide you with signposting to the services that will support you when you need them. We can also be there for veterans and their dependants if they need a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear.
