Having read a recent report on the abundance of germs on telephones and computer keyboards where it was stated that a telephone is contaminated with up to 25,127 germs per square inch, a keyboard 3,295 germs per sq inch and a mouse 1,676 germs per sq inch. A toilet seat on the other hand only had 49 germs per square inch, I became alarmed and with over 35 years experience as an IT professional I have set up a specialist company to cleanse and sanitise this type of equipment with special chemicals and agents. Because these germs can live on a hard surface for up to three days and with the advent and continuing spread of MRSA and Flu related germs and other pathogens such as H1N1, e-coli and C.difficile and the reluctance to clean telephones, keyboards and other surfaces with an antibacterial agent then I firmly and sincerely believe it is imperative that we become accustomed to doing this on a regular basis as a matter of course and have subsequently formed a company to do just this. With the constant spread of germs and the common use of shared technology then problems will only get worse and the cost of cleaning is insignificant compared with the costs of sickness and absenteeism. The end result is a clean, healthy fresh smelling computer and telephone and desk area that lifts staff confidence and moral and is inexpensive, alternatively if you prefer your own staff to undertake these tasks then we can provide you with the equipment and chemicals to do so.
