Bill Robertson Driver Training
Kelty, Fife
Bill Robertson Driver Training has been in business since 2005. Originally trained by Pro Scot, Bill has gone on to train drivers in Fife to not only pass the driving test but to be skilful, safe drivers. Bill has undertaken work for Kingdom Fife, training people for whom a driving licence means a job and better prospects. BRDT has also assessed Doctors Drivers for Trans Fife Transport. These days when a doctor is called out of hours, he has a driver so on the way to the address the doctor can prepare any medicines which may be required upon arrival. BRDT has assessed the drivers in hazard perception and hazard awareness to ensure they are up to or beyond the required standard. This has led to further work with APEX in Kirkcaldy, training unemployed people to improve their job prospects. For the past three years Bill has been a member of the institute of advanced motorists. All pupils are encouraged to take the advanced driving route after achieving their pass plus, for the benefits gained and insurance discount. The ''good old days'' where a pupil may pass after only a few hours have gone. These days drivers face a more rigorous test regime and a theory test. The national average of hours required is 40 plus 20 hours of private practice. BRDT average from novice to test standard is between 20 and 30 hours depending on ability. Any pupil who brings another pupil to the driving school receives a free lesson when the recommended pupil has their first lesson. Lessons are conducted at a time which suits the pupil, including evenings and weekends. When learning with BRDT pupils are pushed on as fast as their ability allows. In every lesson a pupil must learn something new, or get better at something they already know. This way pupils reach test standard faster without increasing the hours required. BRDT ensures that a full hour of tuition is given rather than the 45 minutes given by some of the larger nationwide driving schools.
