I am a Furniture Designer and Maker based just south of Bristol in North Somerset, I produce designs that are affordable, contemporary and unique. I use premium and sustainable hardwoods like cherry, maple, walnut, oak, ash and sycamore, veneer when appropriate and time tested jointing techniques. My creative process of making tables, chairs and cabinets starts with sketches, then full-size drawings and finally computer generated 3D illustrations. Design is just the beginning, what follows is the fastidious process of producing an elegant piece of custom furniture.

Chunky Reclaimed Furniture
Banwell, North Somerset
Chunky furniture handmade in Somerset from timber reclaimed in the South-West and Wales. My aim is to give this wood a new lease of life whilst exposing its natural character and evidence of its former industrial life. In doing so I am offering a bespoke practical alternative to mass produced lightweight furniture. Each piece is unique, having been up-cycled from timbers which would otherwise have been destined for landfill or wood chippings. Products that I make include: coffee tables, bookcases, mirrors, garden furniture, 19" studio racks.

Whether you need a simple shelving unit, a library full of matching bookcases, a dining table and chairs for a king''s banquet or that all important island unit, here at Tom Bell Cabinet Making, we aim to provide creative joinery solutions for every scenario. Everything here is handmade to order, by skilled craftsmen, without a hint of chipboard or suggestion of m.d.f. to be seen. Your furniture is lovingly built out of solid timbers and nothing else. We can also build your furniture from 100% reclaimed materials, namely victorian or georgian floorboards, and teamed with reclaimed hinges and natural adhesives would make your piece an extremely eco-friendly product, with an almost 100% carbon neutral manufacturing process. Should you only have a vague idea of what you want, we can offer advice, design ideas and practical solutions to your furniture needs, whether it''s a simple coffee table, or a full kitchen installation. We can also affoer a sypathetic restoration service, bringing your tired old wooden furniture back to it''s former glory. If a piece is beyond saving, we can either adapt it into something else, or even dissemble the piece and use good the wood to make something different entirely. We know that not everyone is the same shape, size, weight or height. To take into account all of these differences we have a range of chairs and beds that can provide suitable neck, back and leg support for each individual customer including controls on the left or right hand side of the chair, depending on the user''s requirements. All of our chairs and beds are available in various depths, heights and widths.
